Tiger Woods crash jokes: the best web finds

Posted on November 30, 2009. Filed under: Fun & Games | Tags: , , , |

Once it became clear that Tiger suffered only superficial injuries in his now famous car crash, the jokes began to pour in. Here are a few of the funniest Woods gags we’ve come across so far:

New Gillette Advert! Tiger Woods appears and says “Wow, that was a close shave!”

So, Tiger Woods had a car accident? Well, maybe he should have used a driver.

It’s not often that Tiger Woods starts out with a bad drive, hits a water hazard, and ends up in the trees.

Tiger Woods has hit a fire hydrant and then a tree. Big deal, I do that every time I play golf.

Isn’t Tigers’ Caddy supposed to keep him out of the trees?

It’s the first time Tiger’s driven less then 250 yards.

I’m going to start playing Tiger Woods PGA tour on the Wii – with the steering wheel.

Tiger Woods always did have trouble keeping his drives straight.

Tiger Woods has crashed his car into a tree. Police say he’s not seriously hurt, just feelin a bit under par.

Tiger Woods is so rich that he owns lots of expensive cars. Now he has a hole in one.

What’s the difference between a car and a golf ball? Tiger can drive a ball 400 yards.

What were Tiger Woods and his wife doing out at 2.30 in the morning? They went clubbing.

Tiger Woods crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree. He couldn’t decide between a wood and an iron.

When the going gets tough, and you just can’t seem to put your tee shot in the fairway, just remember that sometimes, even Tiger has a bad drive.

I went up to my golf club yesterday for a lesson and the golf pro asked what I wanted. I said I want to drive like Tiger Woods. The bugger then drove my car into a tree and charged me £25!

Headline from a UK newspaper: “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Hydrant”

Phil Mickelson contacted Tiger’s wife to pick up some tips on how to beat Tiger.

Tiger Woods & Wife Argued Before Crash

Posted on November 28, 2009. Filed under: Sports | Tags: , , , , , |

According to TMZ, there may have been more to the Tiger Woods car crash story than previously reported:

Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ Tiger Woods‘ early morning accident came right after an argument with his wife, Elin Nordegren.

We’re told Elin told cops about the argument at the scene of the accident and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital where he was treated.

One Florida law enforcement official called it “a domestic issue.”

Elin apparently was able to forgive and forget — according to Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor, Nordegren smashed out the back window of Tiger’s car to help get him out.

A local police chief admitting to a domestic dispute between Woods and his wife, a golf club-to-the-car-window story and probably more to come. This looks like a developing sports celebrity drama.

UIGEA Rules Postponed By Six Months

Posted on November 27, 2009. Filed under: Industry News | Tags: , , , , |

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has been delayed six months from December 1st 2009 until June 2010 and Repulican Representative Barney Frank is expected to make an announcement to this effect today (Friday).

The impending UIEGA is the main reason why many US players are no longer welcome to play on the majority of online gambling sites as it has become a legal mine field. With the proceedings now delayed until next year, there is a realistic chance of the bill being over turned.

Frank is trying to push through a new bill, entitled HR 2267, supported by 63 other congressmen and women, which gives the US Government a complete framework to fully licence and regulate the internet gambling industry. If successful, it should finally allow American players the freedom to play where they wish.

UEFA changes Olympic age limit

Posted on November 26, 2009. Filed under: Sports | Tags: , , , |

The Professional Football Strategy Council (PFSC), the body composed of four elected
representatives each of the Associations (UEFA Executive Committee), the Leagues (EPFL),
the Clubs (ECA) and the Players (FIFPro Division Europe) met today in Nyon, Switzerland,
and unanimously agreed that European football’s participation in future Olympic Games
should be restricted to players who are under 21 years of age.

After a full discussion on the subject the PFSC unanimously agreed that the principle of
participation at the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament should be for under-21 players, and
not for players up to the age of 23, and that there should be no provision for any over-age
players (currently each team has the right to select three players over the age of 23).

In addition the PFSC received an update on Financial Fair Play and the Protection of Minors,
and also discussed players’ agents in European professional football and the European.
social dialogue.

Barney Frank schedules online gambling hearing for 3rd of December

Posted on November 26, 2009. Filed under: Industry News | Tags: , |

Republican Barney Frank  has scheduled a hearing on the 3rd of December before the House Financial Services Committee to hear testimony on repealing the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and creating a regulated online gaming industry in the USA. The rules for the UIGEA will go into effect next Tuesday.

Frank, who is chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, will lead the questioning as witnesses testify for and against the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection and Enforcement Act (IGRCPEA) and the Reasonable Prudence Regulation Act (RPRA). Both bills were introduced by Frank earlier this year.

The IGRCPEA calls for the creation of a regulated online gambling environment that brings transparency to the online gambling industry. The RPRA seeks to delay the implementation of UIGEA regulations by one year. The hearings will start at the Rayburn House Office Building at 10:00 AM.
